South End Earth Day

We had lots of fun yesterday tabling at South End Earth Day in Albany. An incredible amount of work was accomplished in the reclaimed neighborhood lots thanks to the huge turnout and dedication of folks living in the South End. A celebration ensued after the work and we were grateful to be able to share some information about the farm. The children were very interested in looking at the baby chicks we brought and asking questions about their eventually fate as meat birds. We also had multicolored eggs and an egg scale – weighing was a popular activity that we did not expect. (note to self – next time bring boiled eggs). Some young people also discovered that sprouts taste good! However, most fun of all was joining in the dancing and play with our friends and former neighbors. Thank you so much to AVillage, GSCA and the other organizers of this empowering event.
